Routes are a community snapshot, not a timetable

They record that an airline has operated a callsign between two airports. Some routes in the data have since been retired, so a suggestion is not a guarantee the flight still exists.

There are no real departure times

No free data source provides schedules or days of operation, so simfind never claims a flight departs at a particular time. The departure time sent to SimBrief is just a sensible default — roughly an hour from now.

“Airborne now” means exactly that

Live results come from ADS-B and were true at the moment you searched. Coverage depends on volunteer receivers, so it is good over Europe and North America and thinner elsewhere. A flight missing from the live list is not proof it isn't flying.

Aircraft type is only shown when we really know it

Type and registration come from live ADS-B. For a route that isn't currently flying we leave them blank rather than guess — the only free per-route aircraft data available is about a decade old, and a confident wrong answer is worse than none.

Your aircraft filter only sees live traffic

Nothing in the route data says which aircraft flies a route, so the hangar filter matches against ADS-B instead. It narrows the live traffic simfind can see rather than asking for each type you own — the upstream type endpoint rate-limits, so one request per aircraft is not a polite or reliable design. A global search therefore samples traffic near the busiest airports; add a departure airport to look there precisely.

The map is a great circle, not a flight plan

Routes are drawn as the shortest path over the globe. Real flights follow airways, tracks and restrictions; SimBrief will give you the actual routing.
